My Major & Career Goals
"Aspire to inspire before we expire." – Eugene Bell Jr.
"Out of the ashes we live to die and into the ashes we die to live" - me
My Major
I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Labor Studies, inspired by my experiences working within a labor union. During my time there, I observed significant gaps in advocacy and understanding of union benefits. Many individuals joined simply because it was required, rather than fully appreciating the advantages of membership. This experience highlighted the need for empowering the everyday working class with knowledge about their rights and the true value of union support.
I’m passionate about ensuring that union members understand where their dues go and how the union actively works on their behalf. I regularly take the time to educate members on these aspects, including their Weingarten rights, to help them recognize the importance of organized labor in protecting and advancing worker interests. Through my degree, I aim to deepen this impact, bridging the gap between union membership and informed, empowered participation.
Career Goals
With experience as a high school Instructional Assistant and a background in business, I hope to start working toward earning a master's degree in teaching after completing my bachelor’s. My goal is to educate young minds on workers' rights and the broader impacts of capitalism on the working class. Initially, my aspiration was to work within a strong union, directly advocating for labor rights. However, a series of events shifted my focus, leading me to see the value in starting with the next generation. By teaching and empowering students early, we can foster a more informed and resilient working class, encouraging them to explore ideas of collective action and solidarity.

The Why
Rooted in personal experiences such as working for a union that was my union and seeing the dirty underhanded tactics of insider knowledge and a drive to create positive change. I've seen firsthand how a lack of understanding about union rights and benefits can limit workers' power and voices. I believe that by educating young people on workers' rights and the impact of capitalism, I can set a stage for a stronger, more resilient workforce in the future.
I want to make a difference. Originally, I aimed to work directly in union advocacy, but came to realize that equipping young minds with knowledge and awareness is a foundational step in building a better future. Teaching allows me to reach the next generation, fostering informed citizens who can advocate for themselves and others.
